Patinated bronze, manufactured by the Lost-wax casting technique. (marble base included).

Until the mid-20th century, in some parts of the Basque Country, farmers have been using the “spades” (Layas) to open up and aerate the soil before planting. This sculpture is a tribute to those tenants who have passed on from generation to generation the culture of effort and personal honesty.
